Location: Northern Colorado
Our client is seeking an experienced Interim CFO to lead and support a major transaction process while overseeing the company’s financial operations. This role requires a hands-on, in office, collaborative finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is skilled in M&A, manufacturing cost accounting, and financial modeling.
Key Interim CFO Focus Areas & Responsibilities (Approximate Time Allocation):
75% Transaction Support
Data Room & Diligence (25%) – Partner closely with the investment banker to gather, organize, and maintain a virtual data room ahead of a transaction deadline. Ensure completeness and accuracy of all diligence materials.
Financial Model Mastery (25%) – Quickly learn and deeply understand the company’s existing financial model. Confidently field questions from stakeholders, support presentations, and explain model assumptions and business drivers to buyers and advisors.
Analysis & Schedules (25%) – Lead the preparation of schedules, reports, and supporting analysis required for the transaction. Coordinate responses to diligence questions.
25% Operational Finance Leadership
Oversee monthly financial performance and analysis. Maintain visibility into manufacturing costs (including tariffs), operating performance, and site-level profitability.
Supervise a team of 11 in accounting and finance functions, ensuring timely, accurate reporting and controls.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives, including modeling exit options and preparing for scale.
Minimum Interim CFO Requirements (Must-Haves):
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
Active CPA designation (required)
Significant experience in manufacturing and cost accounting
Proven experience leading and supervising accounting teams
Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling (including M&A models)
Demonstrated buy-side and sell-side M&A experience, preferably with private equity transactions
Proficiency with Excel, including advanced modeling and analysis skills
Preferred Interim CFO Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):
CMA designation
Experience scaling companies for growth, especially in preparation for PE exit
Interim CFO Personality & Culture Fit:
Collaborative and team-oriented leadership style
Able to “hold their own” with buyers (including large corporations and PE firms), lawyers, and advisors
Comfortable rolling up sleeves to solve problems; solution-focused attitude
Confident yet approachable, able to build trust with a strong and capable finance team
